Jazz end Pistons, one game shy of NBA's longest single-season losing streak

The Utah Jazz edged past the Detroit Pistons 119-111 on Thursday night, extending their losing streak to 25 games and inching closer to the NBA single-season record. Kelly Olynyk led the way for Utah with 25 points, while Collin Sexton added 19 and Ochai Agbaji chipped in 18.

For the Pistons, the defeat marked their 25th in 26 games under first-year head coach Monty Williams. Cade Cunningham led the scoring effort with 28 points and 10 assists, but Jaden Ivey (24 points) and Marvin Bagley III (22 points) were the only other players in double figures.

The Jazz, missing four of their top seven scorers, relied on a balanced attack to overcome a late Pistons surge. Utah led by 90-88 entering the final quarter, but Detroit fought back to tie the game at 100-100 with 7:40 remaining.

However, the Pistons' cold shooting in the fourth quarter proved costly. They missed their first six three-pointers before Bojan Bogdanovic hit one to cut the deficit to four. Olynyk then responded with a three-pointer of his own to put the Jazz back in control, and Sexton's tip-in further extended their lead.

Despite free throws from Sexton, the Pistons couldn't mount a serious comeback, falling short for the 25th time this season. With the win, the Jazz are now just one game away from tying the NBA record for consecutive losses, set by the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and 2013-14 Philadelphia 76ers.
